Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Career Management Specialist for the Office of Career Management of Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick. Reporting to the Director of the RBS-New Brunswick Office of Career Management. This position provides career counseling advice to students majoring at the RBS-New Brunswick Undergraduate business school. Position will provide 1-1 job search and career coaching sessions, advise students on personal marketing documents such as a resume or cover letter, design and present career management workshops, collaborate with student organizations, partner with Director to engage students via outreach and program efforts, conduct mock interviews. The duties of the Career Management Specialist includes but not limited to; - Supports relationships with new and existing employers through campus events, career fairs, student organized club events, external connections and campus educational activities. -Keeps abreast of relevant industry research and benchmark relevant undergraduate business school institutions to continuously improve programs and services. -Performs a wide range of career counseling; including individual and group settings. - Provides guidance in resume writing and interviewing skills. -Maintain records of student visits and progress. -Prepares and execute presentations regarding the career search process. -Assists with coordinating, planning and attending events such as annual career fairs. - Advises students regarding full-time job opportunities, internship and co-op search. -Occasional travel, evening and weekend event coverage will be required. Minimum Education and Experience:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in counseling, educational psychology, human resources, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. -A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge and understanding of career counseling theories and methodologies for individuals and groups. -Must have the appropriate qualifying education and/or experience to administer and interpret career assessment instruments. -Requires good communication skills and computer literacy.
- Master’s in counseling, student services, human resources or education. -Experience in both higher education and corporate setting. -Knowledge of HR recruiting practices with special emphasis on university relations and recruiting. -Exposure working with an international student population. -Proficiency in administering and interpreting career assessment instruments.
