The University of California Davis, School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine is recruiting for a full-time faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level (commensurate with credentials) in the Clinical X, Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Ladder Rank/In Residence series. The successful candidate will also be nominated/serve as the Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Division Chief, a position which may be eligible for an endowed professorship.
The Pediatric Pulmonary Division has a thriving practice that includes a cystic fibrosis center, a growing sleep medicine practice, and an active bronchoscopy service. Children with a wide variety of chronic lung diseases are cared for including children requiring home ventilation. Multidisciplinary service such as aerodigestive clinic, and muscular dystrophy service are staffed by faculty in this division.
UC Davis has an extraordinarily rich community of lung investigators that span many Schools and Colleges and have diverse research interests, including in the fields of asthma, childhood COPD, environmental toxicology, pulmonary hypertension, airway epithelial cell signaling, lung cancer, drug development, lung imaging, and innate immunity. Collaborations are fostered through the activities of affiliated centers such as the UC Davis Clinical Translational Sciences Center, the California National Primate Research Center, the Center for Health and Environment, the Center for Comparative Medicine, the Center for Molecular and Genomic Imaging, the Cellular and Molecular Imaging Core, the West Coast Metabolomics Center, and the UC Davis Mouse Biology Program. These outstanding resources will enable the successful candidate to enhance her/his research program in lung biology as well as establish new programs within the Division and across the UC Davis campus.
The Division Chief position will serve as a leader in the Department and will be instrumental in broadening and strengthening the clinical and research objectives of the Department. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished clinician and/or researcher to contribute and lead in clinical, teaching and research in the Department of Pediatrics to new levels of excellence in the Medical School, UC Davis Health System, and the community.
The holder of the endowed professorship, if eligible, will be an individual selected on the basis of excellence in pediatric respiratory diseases and whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of pediatric respiratory diseases; participate in clinical work as a pediatric pulmonologist or another pediatric subspecialist whose research is focused on pediatric pulmonology; perform service to the Department of Pediatrics, UC Davis Children's Hospital and the broader community in which it serves; foster collaborative relationships and build interdisciplinary research teams and encourage scholarship in pediatric respiratory diseases within the department and with external departments and/or University affiliates; conduct research on pediatric respiratory diseases and perform service to the Department of Pediatrics and the broader community in which it is situated; provide leadership in the area of pediatric respiratory diseases and be fully engaged in activities in the Department of Pediatrics; and enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.
Required candidate qualifications include:
M.D. or D.O.
Possess or be eligible for a California Medical License
Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency training program
Successful completion of an approved pediatric pulmonary fellowship
Board certification in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine
The ability to foster collegiality and collaboration in a diverse, academic environment is essential.
At least 8 years of excellence in clinical care, education and scholarship.

A distinguished record of excellence in clinical care, education, community engagement, leadership and scholarship.
A nationally recognized track-record of excellence in pediatric respiratory disease research and a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain extramurally funded research programs
