Assists in the coordination and implementation of evidence-based prevention programs in school and community settings and assists in the development of a community coalition addressing positive youth development and recovery support services coordination.
Focus prevention and recovery support services on positive youth development programming as assigned by PYD grant.
Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based prevention and recovery programs, as assigned to PYD grant/project.
Assist with the implementation of Youth Prevention Education at middle schools, high schools and/or community settings in the service area.
Work collaboratively with various community sectors, including schools, local law-enforcement, faith-based organizations, social service agencies, and community members.
Conduct local needs assessment in collaboration with community partners.
Research and develop health promotion materials.
Provide consultation related to best practices in prevention and recovery to schools and or community organizations.
Plan, create, facilitate and evaluate ongoing activities with program participants.
Recruit schools in the service area to participate in the Illinois Youth Survey and provide implementation assistance as needed.
Assist in the preparation of all required grant reports and other documents required by the funder.
Attend funder-mandated trainings and workshops.
Participate in appropriate professional development opportunities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of technology including using technology to develop promotional materials.
Ability to work comfortably with a wide range of people, including youth, parents, school administration, and community leaders.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills including facilitating youth prevention education and focus groups and initiating/facilitating meetings with other professionals.
Experience using software including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, image manipulation, publishing software, and Apple software environments.
Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.
Ability to conduct prevention projects with youth.
Basic knowledge of Emotional Intelligence Theory, Strategic Planning, and Public Health Models
Availability on occasional evenings and weekends.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Significant time will be spent in the community (up to 50%), driving to and from various community meetings, schools, and prevention organizations
The employee is required to travel by automobile to and from Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Hanover Park and Elk Grove Township office
Bachelor’s Degree in social services, education, or related field required.
Experience in community organizing, youth leadership, alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention and/or related areas
Experience in technical assistance and training preferred.
Have a valid driver’s license, daily access to reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
