There is an immediate opening at our facility in Bergen County, New Jersey within the Service for Radiotherapy Physics within the Department of Medical Physics at the Assistant or Associate Attending level (equivalent to Assistant or Associate Professor). The position will support clinical radiotherapy physics services and will also contribute to the clinical research and development mission of MSK. The facility currently has 2 linear accelerators, one CT simulator, and one PET/CT simulator. A third linear accelerator will be installed in early 2020.
MSKCC has a large, cutting-edge program in all aspects of radiation oncology physics that seeks to improve the clinical effectiveness of radiation therapy in partnership with radiation oncologists, radiologists and other medical professionals. Many new programs in radiation therapy research and development are ongoing, including: the development and clinical use of predictive models (tumor control and normal tissue complication probability) in treatment planning, improved treatment planning optimization algorithms, integration of MR and PET imaging into radiotherapy decision making and treatment planning, 4D imaging and motion management, and the development of informatics- based and adaptive radiotherapy processes (www.mskcc.org/departments/medical-physics). In 2019, MSK enterprise-wide radiation oncology and medical physics resources will include twenty-nine linear accelerators, one MR-Linac, six HDR units, CT, PET/CT and MRI Simulators, and state-of-the-art inter- and intra-fractional imaging and motion management capabilities. We have a strong philosophy that all facilities will provide outstanding treatment quality as well as contribute to the overall mission of MSKCC to advance the state of cancer care.
The ideal candidate should have:
PhD. in physics, medical physics, or a related field
ABR Certification, or be ABR-eligible
A strong clinical background and demonstrated ability and interest in clinical research
