Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC) is seeking an independent, creative, and self-motivated individual for the position of Digital and Social Media Marketing Specialist. This individual will work in the Marketing and Communications department of SHC. The Digital and Social Media Marketing Specialist will be primarily responsible for the national sporting events within the SHC umbrella. Additional responsibilities will include various tasks and projects to support SHC marketing initiatives.
The four sports properties currently in the Shriners Hospitals for Children system are: • East-West Shrine Game (college football all-star game held each January in St. Petersburg, FL). • Shriners Hospital for Children Open, a PGA tournament held annually each fall in Las Vegas. • Shriners Hospital for Children College Classic, an NCAA baseball tournament held annually each March at Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX. • NASCAR sponsorship of selected races annually.
Develop and implement creative content for SHC sports properties (30%)
• Coordinate and help produce promotional materials, including emails, flyers, schedule cards/posters, and web ads. • Work closely with sales and donor relations team on creative content for sales packages. • Develop press releases and assets needed for media relations. • Conduct research of players, events and teams to support creative communications.
Manage year-round promotion and marketing of SHC sporting events through all social and digital media channels (30%)
• Develop content marketing plans, timelines, calendars and schedules to support SHC sporting event social channels and website blog/news extensions. • Utilize social media management tools like Hootsuite to automate publishing and Talkwalker to enhance social media monitoring to research influencers and engage with users. • Coordinate search engine marketing campaigns including but not limited to, Facebook Ads, Google Search/Display Ads, OTT and streaming audio advertisements with Digital Marketing Director and supporting third party agencies. • Maintain and coordinate content edits and optimizations of websites for SHC sports property events.
On-site marketing and public relations management during the time of each annual event (10%)
• Work closely with marketing teams with a focus on engaging fans and reaching attendance goals. • Assist the various sports events to enhance customer service. • Capture video and images during events for social publishing, promotional videos and larger documentary media projects to support the sporting events and hospital marketing initiatives. • Organize and transfer sports media assets into the Digital Asset Management system.
General support of Shriners Hospitals for Children marketing initiatives (30%)
• Provide digital journalism support for Shriners Hospitals for Children to help execute strategic communications initiatives • Provide support for all social media and digital marketing channels associated with Shriners Hospitals for Children • Assist with content reformatting of various mediums to repurpose on digital platforms and social media channels • Provide content development support for internal communication initiatives that support Human Resources, Donor Relations, EVP office and Compliance.
The qualified candidate will have experience in the following areas:
3 or more years of hands-on experience producing digital content (website content, blog articles, eBooks, whitepapers, video and infographic content) required
Previous experience in the field of sports management, marketing/communications, public relations on the intercollegiate and/or professional level required
Demonstrated success writing and structuring copy for digital platforms focused on user experience required
Experience writing and distributing press releases using traditional and modern tools and techniques required
At least 1 year of experience in digital publishing using a CMS platform (Sitecore, Joomla, WordPress, Drupal, or Adobe) required
Excellent writing skills, grammar and spelling in the English language required.
Understanding and ability to maintain writing style and voice across all digital publishing platforms required
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
Advanced understanding of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit and Snap.
Digital photography and videography skills (DSLR & ENG video experience is a plus)
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work long hours of standing and walking at selected times annually
Basic technical understanding of HTML/CSS and web publishing.
