Location: SOVAH-Health in Danville, VA, Duke Hospital in Durham, NC and affiliates
Applicants are invited to apply for a newly open Medical Physicist position in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Duke University Medical Center. This position will be a part of our Radiation Physics Team and will provide clinical physics support primarily to our radiation therapy facilities in Danville, VA, Durham, NC and affiliates.
The facility in Danville is within 1-hour and 20 minutes driving distance from the Duke main campus. Equipment includes a modern linear accelerator with CBCT for IGRT and gated treatment, one CT simulators and networked ARIA information and Eclipse treatment planning system. Special procedures will include SBRT and IMRT/IGRT. In addition to clinical coverage, our Radiation Physics Division also provides physics teaching for graduate students within medical physics, radiation oncology residents, and medical students from Duke medical school. Active research programs mainly involve IMRT/IGRT, 3D dosimetry, oncologic and biological imaging, modeling of radiation damage for normal tissues and of tumor control using radiation, advanced MR imaging, stereotactic radiosurgery, and stereotactic body radiotherapy.
This position will involve a full range of physics activities in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Preference will be given to individuals who have extensive clinical experience (Board certification or eligibility is required). Candidate must be able to travel, provide flexible coverage, and is a good team player.
