Our research interests involve investigation of common, complex disease using system genetics approaches. We pair population-level observations with omics measure (ex. Proteomics, RNA-Seq) to generate new hypotheses for mechanisms of cardiometabolic pathophysiology. There is a specific emphasis on identification of endocrine signaling pathways which regulate cardiac and muscle function. These hypotheses are then followed experimentally using gain- or loss-of-function approaches in cell culture and mouse models. Many of the experimental duties for this position will involve these subsequent follow-up experimental procedures.
