Position Summary: Incumbent performs the essential functions of the Emergency Department Registration, which can include: pre-admission, financial counseling, insurance notification, verification and authorization, management of unscheduled admissions in acute care or mental health admissions, NICU transfers and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystemAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadDemonstrated ability to utilize payer and government websites to access and interpret health plan benefit packages and make determinationsDemonstrated experience with referral authorization processDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of Managed Care plansExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishExperience in a hospital or medical office settingExperience with registration and/or billings computer software programsExtensive and demonstrated knowledge of Government and Commercial Insurance PlansMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMust demonstrate general understanding of medical terminologyMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to ensure proper billing or financial procedures for patientsBilingual in English and SpanishExperience with computer software programs such as Quest, Invision and EPICKnowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
