The Division of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) at the Ames Laboratory, a Department of Energy National Laboratory affiliated with Iowa State University, is searching for a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate.
The successful candidate will work with research groups withinÂ DMSEÂ who are developing new quantum materials. The incumbent will initiate, design, and perform chemical and structural analysis of materials from the micro- to atomic-scale. This individual will perform advanced techniques of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), including but not limited to aberration corrected scanning transmission microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, converged beam electron diffraction, energy dispersive spectroscopy, electron energy loss spectroscopy, tomography and imaging processing. They will help perform day-to-day oversight of activities on TEMs, including training of new users.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and will be able to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences. The individual must be able to work effectively with team members.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Â Ph.D. must be completed prior to start date.
Â â¢ Ph.D degree in Physics, or Materials Science and Engineering, or related field. â¢ Experience on aberration correctedÂ TEMÂ and advanced imaging processing. â¢ Advanced imaging processing experience.
