Description UC Davis echocardiography physicians and technicians provide a variety of noninvasive imaging services for the diagnosis and treatment of congenital, ischemic, structural and valvular heart disease. Utilizing state-of-the-art sonography technology ' including three-dimensional trans-thoracic and trans-esophageal, intra-cardiac and contrast-enhanced echocardiography ' the team conducts nearly 12,000 rest and stress exams each year.

Qualifications REQUIRED -Must be RDCS or CCI certified with two years recent experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in an acute care setting. -Have working knowledge of transesophageal echocardiogram procedure. -Working knowledge of different ultrasound systems. (i.e. Siemens Sequoia, Philips- iE33, CX50, EPIQ, GE Vivid E9, Sonosite). SPECIAL REQUIREMENT -Availability for mandatory overtime and assignment to perform echo procedures at the Primary Care Network (PCN) clinics maybe required. -Strength sufficient to move heavy ultrasound equipment on wheels (up to approximately 500lbs), and to move patients in wheelchairs and stretchers. -Ability to maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning. - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
Responsibilities The Senior Ultrasound Technician in the Adult Echocardiography Laboratory is responsible for performing the full range of adult echocardiography procedures including, 2-D/3-D echo, stress echocardiography (exercise/pharmacological) and contrast echocardiograms in acute and outpatient care settings utilizing multi-vendor sourced equipment. The Sr. Ultrasound technician is also responsible for maintaining a high standard of medical ethics at all times, is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve, and follow established examination standards that adhere to the policies and procedures of UCDHS and ICAEL. Clinical instruction of cardiac ultrasound students and/or Cardiac Fellows may also be expected and required per the Echo Lab Supervisor's discretion. Participation in lab sponsored events/demonstrations as requested. This position is Monday through Friday with varying hours between 7:30am and 6:00pm and weekend rotation.
