Posting Salary: MIN:$17.58/hr. TO MID: $26.05/hr.
Position Summary: The Master Gardener Program Coordinator (MGPC) works with and supports trained Master Gardener volunteers to address this clientele. The MGPC will work with the Cooperative Extension Advisor and the Master Gardener Advisory Board to decide upon meeting/workshop locations, times and sequences; oversee and coordinate the recruiting and training of a new class of MG volunteers annually. Advanced training for veteran MG's is provided on a monthly basis.
The MGPC will maintain and be liaison with the community and horticultural groups to determine clientele needs and effectiveness of MG classes and programs; serve as the first source/directive of horticultural technical assistance to the volunteer staff; effectively lead and coordinate the different project teams and their MG leads; actively participate in the MGP Advisory Board, Program Team, and Workgroup meetings and be the main liaison between them and the Cooperative Extension Advisor.
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with other responsibilities of the position, the affirmative action goals established by the Division.

Must posses valid Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.
Employment is contingent upon successfully clearing the FBI/DOJ background check both from the Department of Justice and FBI, prior to first day of UC employment.
Job Close Date:
Communicate with MG Executive Committee regularly regarding program and procedural matters.
Oversee and Interact with all Master Gardener committees and attend their monthly meetings as needed.
Create and provide training and support to MG volunteers in the use of the statewide Volunteer Management System (VMS), maintain data in the web site, and provide statistics to the Advisor/County Director as needed.
Support trained Master Gardener volunteers in carrying out a public education program to address their clientele using a variety of methods, including classes, workshops, various forms of public media, written publications, demonstration projects, and collaborative educational projects with local agencies and entities including but not exclusive to: the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Huerta Garden at the Santa Barbara Mission, and UCCE Butterfly Garden at the Alice Keck Park Memorial Gardens.
Oversee publications by MG Volunteers for adherence to University policy regarding publications, including Affirmative Action statements, UC IPM information, etc.
Support helpline volunteers in the use and maintenance of the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) System within the VMS.
