The Laboratory Coordinator for Biological Sciences is responsible for ensuring the setup and running/implementation of biology labs. The Coordinator will order necessary lab supplies, work with lead faculty to direct teaching assistants in preparing all necessary components of the lab, will monitor lab equipment function, and will assist with the development of new laboratory materials. The coordinator will assist with the training of graduate teaching assistants to master laboratory skills and content, and oversee their development of teaching excellence. The Coordinator will teach laboratory sections within biology courses and provide assistance to the students within those courses.
Master's Degree or higher in Biological Sciences, or a sub-discipline of biology (e.g. ecology, microbiology, cell and molecular biology, physiology, plant science.) (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
One year experience teaching undergraduate Biological Sciences labs at a College or University, which may include related graduate/teaching assistantship.
May need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
BS in Biological Sciences or strong background or experience in General Biology.
Strong background or experience in Anatomy and Human Physiology.
Knowledge of experimental procedures and design.
Experience with basic chemical solution preparation and safety.
Expertise or experience in laboratory setup for undergraduate biology courses.
Demonstrated ability to supervise teaching assistants, or strong potential for successful supervision.
Knowledge of Animal Care and Use regulations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Adept with Microsoft Office applications including Powerpoint, Word and Excel.
Have an understanding of on-line learning platforms (Desire to Learn).
Evidence of a commitment to student success.
