Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe Registration Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Registrar's Office. This position serves as the primary contact for students, faculty, and staff. The Registration Assistant works as part of a team responsible for responding to phone inquires; assisting students at the front counter with registration, drop/add, requests for transcripts and letters; and general troubleshooting. In addition, the Registration Assistant helps with packaging, distribution, and scanning Faculty Course Evaluations. It is expected that each Registration Assistant be present and assist with the distribution of diplomas at Commencement.
Processing student and alumnae/i academic records (transcripts); both computer generated (Banner/Perceptive Content, etc.) and hard copy.
Providing students with enrollment and degree verification letters.
Completing verification forms for insurance companies, the Athletics Department, and others.
Providing the National Student Clearinghouse with missing student and graduate data.
Maintain the student and guardian permanent address and contact information.
Process changes to students' legal name.
Provide back-up support to other Registration Assistants.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The Registration Assistant works with other departments on campus including the academic departments and programs, and other offices including Dean of Studies, Dean of the Faculty and Student Financial Services. This position reports directly to the Associate Registrar.
Qualifications Qualifications: Two to four years of administrative assistant experience and/or training. Strong computer skills are required including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, e-mail and internet browsers. Willingness and ability to learn new computer applications required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and telephone manner are essential. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff required. Professional, problem-solving demeanor; good judgment and discretion, including the ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage deadlines and multiple, competing priorities. Must be able to work independently. Notary Public Certification desired.This position works full-time during the academic year (43 weeks/year) for 37.5 hours/week. The scheduled work hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
