Conducts comprehensive event planning for complex events, including conception, design, development, coordination, implementation and post-event evaluation.
Oversees and executes a wide variety of domestic and international events from small, donor-centric breakfasts and events with, the dean to large-scale galas, student-alumni networking events, campaign events, and international symposia.
Constituencies may include the general public, alumni, prospective students, parents, donors, campus visitors, and/or community representatives.
Plays a central role in designing and developing comprehensive alumni network, fundraising and campaign events.
Serves as the primary resource for general campus event and program planning issues, protocol, and policies.
Ensures event compliance.
Works with campus officials to ensure event safety, and implement creative solutions to address environmental concerns and appropriate, sustainable resources.
Recognizes and resolves potential and real problems in a timely manner using tact, sensitivity, discretion and political acumen.
Keeps event stakeholders appropriately advised and notified.
Leads and guides post event analyses and long-range unit event strategic planning.
Creates unique and customer-centric programs and events for audiences of donors, alumni, students and friends of the business school.
Designs such programs with faculty, senior and center staff, and industry leaders in order to provide substantive engagement opportunities for alumni with the business school and one another.
Recruits and stewards faculty for signature events and the annual faculty roadshow in partnership with Alumni Chapters. Crafts and confirms Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), where appropriate.
Liaises with Berkeley Executive Education, centers and institutes, and Marketing & Communication to understand trending topics in research and professional development.
Establishes programmatic partnership, where appropriate.
Utilizes research and data gathering to inform long-range event content strategies and design.
Coordinates with speakers, honorees, donors, campus officials, VIPs and colleagues for programs and events. This includes developing and presenting comprehensive briefings and scripts.
Leads programs as assigned by the Dean, Assistant Dean, and Executive Director.
Collaborates with the Assistant Dean and Executive Director on strategic event plan for Development and Alumni Relations.
Directs multiple service contractors and subcontractors.
Serves as the primary liaison with a wide variety of vendors and campus officials.

Negotiates contracts and pricing to assure that work is completed to specification, on time and within budget. With international vendors and clients, negotiates contracts that may be in foreign currencies.
Develops and maintains comprehensive event budgets and ensures that event costs do not exceed budgeted allocations.
With oversight from the Executive Director, develops and maintains comprehensive event budgets and ensures that event costs do not exceed budget allocations.
Provides input to Haas Finance, generating exceptional approval memorandums to expedite payment of complex, high-profile, and high-cost events, involving the dean, other school officials, and top donors.
May lead a team of Events Specialist professionals, and mentor and/or manage less experienced events staff.
Supervises event personnel. Sets strategic goals and vision for the events team. Establishes performance standards, tracks metrics and goals, and resolves personnel problems in according with University and Haas School directed Human Resources policies and guidelines, taking corrective action as necessary..
Oversees the recruitment, selection, training and professional development of event personnel.
Attend classes to enhance expertise in job functions, including management.
Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees, as appropriate.
Participate in activities that enhance the campus community and/or broader business community to further University service.
Advanced knowledge of concepts, principles and best practices of event planning, including design, organization and production of complex events.
Demonstrated ability to design, organize, and produce a wide variety of events for diverse constituencies, often working on multiple events with competing deadlines. Must be able to establish goals and workload priorities

Advanced knowledge of event safety and security standards.
Experience with event planning and management software and tools.

Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience up to $110,800.00.
