Join the Global Community of Scotiabankers to help customers become better off. Purpose Leads development and ongoing management of Data Infrastructure, Analytics and Business Intelligence capabilities to support Commercial Banks Anti-Money Laundering (AML) initiatives
Supports the development of data infrastructure to enhance AML capabilities
Participates in development of data architecture for Commercial Bank to support the AML initiative
Develop new or enhance features across the platform: data pipelines, new datasets, efficient interfaces, and interactive visualizations
Work collaboratively with AML program office and Commercial business line to support the generation of powerful datasets and to bring successful analytics capabilities in support of the AML initiative
Ensure data architecture encompasses all business lines and segments for Commercial Bank, including but not limited to important AML data dimensions related to customers, transactions and products
Represent Commercial Business line in crossfunctional initiatives including but not limited to Transaction Monitoring, Customer Risk Rating Model Development and Enterprise data governance
Learn the business strategy and generate ideas for insightful analytic tools
Support Commercial Bank in key AML/Compliance initiatives
Support crossfunctional team in development of a new Customer Risk Rating model. Attend working sessions, support efforts to ingest new data, profile and validate data quality, assist creation of model datasets, conduct impact analysis.
Support transaction monitoring initiative by attending working sessions, advise on business system architecture and data field specifications, complete data lineage assessments and conduct impact analysis on key product/transaction data in support of AML activities
Support regulatory reporting initiative by ensuring metrics are standardized as per regulatory standards and enable automation of reporting
Support annual AML risk assessments to assess risk exposure associated with customers, products, services & delivery channels, and geographies
Manage key stakeholder relationships in support of AML/Compliance initiatives
Works collaboratively with members of the Commercial Analytics, Commercial Compliance team, AML program office, Data Science and Analysis group, IT&S, Salesforce and other key stakeholders to ensure appropriate data infrastructure is in place
Work with technology and other relevant stakeholders to ensure data infrastructure developed is consistent with the overall technology/data vision for the bank
Proactively support various AML/Compliance stakeholders on initiatives and adhoc analysis
Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Develops team expertise in data engineering and strong analytics capabilities.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or relevant experience
Master's degree in Computer Science/Analytics - preferred
5+ years of data engineering and software experience
Detailed experience in the following: Unix, Mainframe, SQL, SAS, Python, other programming tools
Enjoy discovering and learning new technologies
Experience with large data sets and working with Hadoop, NoSQL databases, and/or graph databases
Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
Strong prioritizing, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills
Effective strategic thinking, organizational knowhow and influencing skills are critical for success
High degree of knowledge of commercial products and profit drivers
The role requires a high degree of collaboration across wide ranging groups: AML, Enterprise Data Office, Commercial Banking areas. Works with various partners using influence and negotiation skills to ensure objectives are met.
Strong technical skills in Math, Computer Science or related fields
Excellent design and delivery capabilities
