Capital Markets Risk Management is accountable for the processes for generating and monitoring an independent view of the Profit and Loss, Credit Risk, Market Risk, and Valuation activities of the global trading activities of the Firm.
The Risk and Valuation team is responsible for delivering integrated, timely and accurate PnL Risk and Valuation Reporting for Global Equity Derivatives businesses through effective and efficient processes as while as providing independent advice, guidance and quantitative support to business leaders.
You are required to demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices. It is your responsibility to ensure that execution of your function is in line with documented procedures specific to your role or business.
The position involves dealing with multiple businesses/Risk Policies, a diverse product scope and the management of non standardized business changes. This will involve the managing of multiple Front Office, Technology and Market Risk Control relationships to help drive business improvement and change.
Responsibilities of the Analyst, CMRM, include but are not limited to:
Ensure you read, understand and adhere to CMRM Standards for Documentation, End User Computing, LAN Access Control, Reporting, Rules Based Escalation, Self-assessment, Vacation, and Record Retention
Generate accurate and complete daily independent PnL and publish results on the applicable web reporting platform in a timely manner and escalate issues as required
Produce daily Attribution to validate PnL and explain any differences
Authenticate daily PnL and position reports to front office PnL estimates or other system reports
Obtain daily Front Office PnL sign-off. Adhere to CMRM policy regarding the escalation of non-compliance with sign offs to upper management
Monitor and validate the market risk of trading desks through various risk metrics on Market Risk Insight, perform risk attribution analysis if necessary.
Escalate legitimate trading risk overages according to associated Market Risk Policy and CMRM Escalation standards.
Provide analysis of PnL and investigate and resolve all discrepancies/differences in a timely manner, as required
Ensure that all late or missing reports and related process metrics are recorded, documented and explained appropriately
Generate accurate and complete Independent Price Verification and Valuation Adjustments on Equity businesses in accordance with Global IPV and VA policies and associated business line policies, to ensure accurate and complete Fair Value reporting on all Financial Instruments per policy.
Ensure process reviews are conducted in accordance with CMRM Standards and make recommendations for improvement or identify gaps.
Complete end of period accounting and reporting
Review current processes and pro-actively make changes or propose initiatives to improve efficiencies in order to provide more effective business support
Ensure internal control processes are adequate and documented appropriately.
Execute infrastructure changes and ensure that changes are executed in accordance with CMRM change control procedures and EUC standards
Liaise closely with the Bank's front office traders, market risk control, audit, technology groups, and other stakeholders to assist in meeting the Bank's objectives
Perform ad-hoc analyses as required by management and deliver on projects and initiatives that have been approved in the All Initiatives Forum
Maintain a good understanding of the analytical principles underlying the pricing and risk management of financial derivatives, including issues that arise regarding financial modeling of products for PnL and attribution purposes
Propose, schedule, plan and champion projects to improve efficiencies in order to provide more effective business support
Ensure that internal audit findings related to the products being traded within the responsibilities of the CMRM are cleared within the time commitments provided to Internal Audit
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance or other quantitative disciplines. Pursuit or completion of CFA/FRM is an asset.
