Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Building Maintenance Senior Superintendent, serve as the Night Operations working Foreman, Directing Operators in the inspection of building and departmental equipment, emergency response to equipment failure, power outages, building flooding, natural disasters and emergencies.
Physical Demands: Requires working in restricted areas around large noisy equipment, climb ladders or stairs to top of machinery, crawl, stoop, bend, and work hot, tight, cramped conditions. Will lift up to 50 lbs. or heavier of tools and equipment.
Work Environment: This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University policy.
This position may, at times, require the individual to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards include but are not limited to: asbestos, PCBs radioactive materials, industrial and laboratory chemicals, fuels and solvents, infectious materials and wastes, biological hazards and other materials labeled hazardous.
This position is subject to completion of a pre-placement medical exam provided by Employee Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant.
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License. Position will participate in the DMV Pull Notice System.
This position may be required to work a non-standard work schedule that may include nights or weekends. Expected working hours 3pm-11:30pm Monday-Friday.
Vacation usage by the employee may be restricted during peak workload periods as required to meet the needs of the campus.
Must be able to work nonscheduled hours demanded by critical scheduling and campus emergencies.
Employee is personally responsible for following safety procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience managing and supervising staff including recruitment and selection, training, assigning work, setting expectations, evaluating performance, and providing reward or corrective action.
Experience performing limited mechanical, electrical and structural maintenance and repair.
Experience using common trade hand and power tools for mechanical and structural repairs.
Knowledge of approved safety devices and practices.
Skill to provide clearly written and understandable reports and instructions.
Customer service and communications skills to provide courteous service in person, on the telephone, and in writing; to convey a professional and business-like image.
Organizational and time management skills to manage time and priorities to respond to deadlines, and work on multiple complex tasks that are not necessarily well-defined.
Basic computer skills to operate a personal computer.
Preferred Qualifications: Skill to review and understand technical data and mechanical and structural specifications and blueprints schematics, diagrams and craft terminology.
Experience in managing work assignments; plan, track, and assign building operator schedules.
Skill to detect problems while machinery is in operation.
Knowledge to interpret, learn, and apply University, and Facilities policies and procedures.
