Position Summary: Under general supervision, the Staff Research Associate II will oversee and conduct research on irrigation and nutrient management studies, including the following: extension projects on best management practices to improve farm water quality, evaluating the contribution of nitrate in irrigation water to crop growth, evaluation of satellite estimation of crop water use, as well as coordinating research project details with research collaborators and farmers. This position requires candidate conduct field research on commodities ranging from cool season vegetables, strawberries, and wine grapes.
Incumbent typically perform a wide variety of standard repetitive procedures without detailed technical supervision, usually in a well-established occupational field (i.e.,Plant Sciences, soil and/or water science, irrigation or agricultural engineering. They may also modify, vary or adapt standard procedures to meet the needs of research projects, organize data, assisting with statistical analysis including: preparation of reports, articles, scientific publications, and supervise County Personnel (Farm Advisor, Assistant, Agricultural Aide) and Student Assistants.
This is a 100% time position for one year with the possibility of extending provided there is additional funding.
This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.
