The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics seeks to fill a Research Associate position in enzyme biochemical characterization and structure analysis in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Hausinger working in collaboration with Dr. Jian Hu.
One position is available immediately for a highly self-motivated Research Associate with experience in molecular biology and protein biochemistry, ideally with structure biology skills, to work in the laboratories of Robert Hausinger and Jian Hu on an NIH-funded project to characterize enzymes that synthesize and use the recently discovered nickel-pincer nucleotide cofactor. We seek an excellent scientist with hands on training in molecular biology, protein expression/purification, and, ideally, structure determination by x-ray crystallography.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or other field closely related to protein structure and enzyme characterization.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated skills in molecular biology and protein purification. Experience in structure characterization is highly preferred.
