The Research Assistant is a professional who assists in consolidating and abstracting data from electronic medical record (EMR) systems, medical provider files, and other locations. They will identify, collect, record, organize, and report patient information from various patient medical records relevant to the SMMART Treatments Program, such as information related to patient biopsies, analytical testing, treatment, diagnosis, tumor lesion size, and imaging events. The Research Assistant will identify gaps and/or inconsistencies in patient EMR data, create a request log, and work with the clinical team to obtain needed information from the treating physician, patient, and other sources.
The Research Assistant will also manually enter patient information collected from patient records, including EMR systems and data capture systems associated with clinical research, into the SMMART database management system (DMS). They will be responsible for performing quality audits and quality checks to identify gaps or inaccuracies in data in the SMMART DMS. The Research Assistant will use quality check procedures to ensure the integrity of stored and accessible data.
