We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for a full-time research technician position in the laboratory of Dr. Beth Stevens. This position affords the exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of scientists who are investigating the functional consequences of the immune-brain interactions in development and disease. Prior laboratory experience is required, as well as strong organizational skills and an eagerness to learn.
The Research Assistant's primary responsibilities will include the following:
Preparation, imaging, and analysis of histochemical staining of mouse tissue
Assisting in the isolation, culturing, and imaging of primary mouse and rat cells
Performing standard biochemical analyses (Western blot, ELISA, etc)
Maintenance of mouse colony
Performing a variety of routine laboratory tests and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy
Support the maintenance of the lab and equipment
To qualify, you must have...
Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Neuroimmunology, Biology, or a closely related field
Previous lab experience with rodents preferred (>6 mo)
Experience in one or more of the following techniques would be preferred: immunohistochemical preparations of tissue, microscopy (brightfield or confocal), image analysis, Western Blot, molecular biological techniques (cloning, plasmid prep, gel electrophoresis, etc)
Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles
Strong organization practices and the ability to exchange information on factual matters, willingness to learn new techniques, highly motivated, and passionate about the laboratory research.
Ability to build excellent working relationships and foster collaboration in a team environment.
