The Department of FoodScience is seeking two (2) post-doctoral research associates to work in the newCenter for Agricultural Synthetic Biology (agsynbiocenter.org) in thelaboratories of Dr. Scott C. Lenaghan and Dr. C. Neal Stewart, Jr. at theUniversity of Tennessee.
This position iscurrently funded by DARPA APT with the duties focused on design-build-test ofsynthetic constructs in a throughput robotic system and assessing phenomicsusing an advanced imaging system. Experience in plant biotechnology is helpfulbut not necessary requirement for the successful applicant. The applicantshould have experience in molecular biology and synthetic biology. The successfulapplicant will work with a large interdisciplinary team of plant biologists,synthetic biologists, and engineers, as well as collaborators at MIT.
Applicants will focus onutilizing synthetic and molecular biology approaches to solve real-worldchallenges facing the energy, medical, agricultural, and biotechnology sectors.As the projects are high-risk, high-reward, and focused on achieving aggressivemilestones, applicants must be capable of thinking 'outside the box' andmeeting designated deadlines.
