A laboratory in the Department of Cancer Biology and the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated and organized Research Specialist A. The research interests of our laboratory lie at the intersection of cancer biology, signal transduction, and metal homeostasis. Our lab seeks to unravel the complete framework of metal integration into signaling networks during normal physiology and in the context of tumorigenesis by utilizing a multidisciplinary approach from in vivo mouse models of cancer, biochemistry, molecular biology, and pharmacological interventions.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and have excellent organization skills. Prior research experience is required. Experience with cell culture, biochemical techniques, molecular biology, techniques, cell biology techniques, and mouse husbandry is a plus, but is not required. We will consider candidates who are seeking a temporary position (minimum 2 years strongly preferred) before applying to graduate or medical school, as well as those looking for long-term specialist positions. Qualified individuals will be expected to maintain mouse colonies, oversee general lab operations, and assist other lab personnel with experimental procedures and analysis. Additional duties include but are not limited to: mouse husbandry; DNA preparation; RNA isolation; protein purification and preparation; PCR-based genotyping; RT-PCR; Western Blotting; molecular subcloning; cell culture; immunofluorescence; and live cell imaging.
