Med-Aging Institute - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (19003811)
Liu Laboratory at the Aging Institute is seeking a Senior Research Laboratory Specialist who will aid in the identification and validation of molecular targets that might modulate the rate of human aging. The individual will be expected to conduct basic and therapeutic research related to protein degradation during aging.
The incumbent will have the opportunity to work independently as well as assist PI with the design and planning of protocols and conducting drug discovery efforts. The applicant will ideally have experience in cell culture techniques, protein purification, Western blotting, cloning, PCR and assay design and development. Advanced skills including mice physiology (especially neurodegeneration models), iPSC experience would be a significant advantage for the candidate.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, organized, have good interpersonal and leadership skills, and have a solid base of knowledge of advanced scientific principles. The location for this position is Bridgeside Point, 100 Technology Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
A minimum of Master's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related field is requested, or equivalent education/experience is required. A minimum 3-years experience in laboratory research with knowledge of biologic science and acceptable scientific research training, prior experience in animal research is helpful. Prior experience plus a Bachelors educational degree may serve in place of this minimum requirement.
