The Rizzo Laboratory investigates the pathophysiology of diseases of Aging including Alzheimer's disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and related neuropsychiatric and cognitive co-morbidities, and uses preclinical model systems and translational approaches towards identifying disease and symptom-modifying therapeutics. The laboratory is also a critical component of the Model Organism Development for Late Onset Alzheimer's Disease (MODEL-AD) consortium ( www.model-ad.org ).
Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Laboratory Manager will participate in management of day-to-day operations of a laboratory ensuring efficient laboratory operations, develop and optimize protocols, conduct experiments on their own research project, and help other members of the laboratory conduct experiments and analyze data. The applicant will ideally have experience with mouse colony management, western blotting, genotyping, immunohistochemistry. The applicant will ideally have experience with PCR and assay design and development including experience with complex conditional mouse models mice, and any of a number of sophisticated cellular and molecular biology techniques (e.g. CRISPR-mediated gene editing). Experience with mouse behavioral testing and EEG would be a significant advantage for the candidate.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, organized, have great interpersonal and leadership skills, and have a solid base of knowledge of advanced scientific principles.

A minimum of Master's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or related field, or equivalent experience is required. A minimum 3-years experience in laboratory research with knowledge of biologic science and acceptable scientific research training, prior experience in animal research and/or and/or laboratory management helpful.
