Job Description - Senior Research Scientist - Cell Biology (18004949)
Syngenta Crop Protection is looking for a scientist with a sound knowledge of cell-based assays to work within the Insecticide Bioscience Group. Confident to work independently, you will design, develop and run novel biochemical and cell-based assays to provide mode of action information on potential new insecticides. In addition, you will exercise problem-solving skills when issues arise with the assays and investigate, identify and implement the best solutions. Working in a culture of constant improvement, you’ll be encouraged to develop further – expanding the knowledge of your own and other disciplines, as you look to develop new assay procedures and methodologies in support of insecticide projects.
To succeed in this role, you will have a degree (or equivalent) preferably in Biochemistry or a Biological Science together with some hands-on experience. Applicants may have an MSc/PhD in a relevant subject. You will also have practical experience of developing cell-based assays and familiarity with mammalian and/or insect cell culture techniques.
Experience of high-throughput screening, the use of FLIPR instrumentation and working in 384 microtitre plates would be an advantage.
