The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) is a rapidly growing and highly successful nonprofit whose mission is to accelerate cures through stem cell research. NYSCF is seeking applications for an Associate Automation Engineer to support high-throughput manufacturing and R&D in an automated facility, primarily involved in cell line production and downstream assays. This full time position will join an exciting, multi-disciplinary team in our growing laboratory that will assist in the automation of stem cell related projects. The person filling this role will work collaboratively with members of the laboratory and across the organization.
The successful candidate will:
Support existing automated equipment solutions deployed throughout the laboratory by providing software and hardware troubleshooting.
Develop novel liquid handling processes across a range of liquid handling instruments including devices from manufacturers such as Opentrons, Hamilton and Dynamic Devices.
Build custom software solutions (i.e. macros, web pages, custom configurations of off-the-shelf tools, Visual Studio) that assist The Global Stem Cell Array™ user base.
Create test plans for equipment and software that have stated requirements and specifications
Analyze data via commercial data analysis packages and communicate those results in a team environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and instrumentation problems.
Evaluate and test new automation technologies/platforms.
Provide support to the wider research team in assistance with CAD modelling and generation of prototype/production consumables using CNC/3D Printing.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering-related field.
0-2+ years of experience developing solutions with automated instrumentation and laboratory measurement devices: liquid-handling robots, plate readers, vial/tube handlers, etc.
Demonstrated ability in programming language(s) including but not limited to SQL, Python, C# Experience maintaining and debugging hardware.
Strong bench skills in experimental design. Experience with mammalian cell culture preferred but not required.
