The Software Product Manager will be responsible for managing a family of software applications that support Echo Liquid Handlers. As Product Manager, you will participate in a team that is responsible for increasing the profitability of existing products and developing new products for the company. To guide development teams, you will leverage existing ideas and develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and key opinion leaders. To do this, you must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the challenges our users face and working with technical teams to find innovative solutions.
The ideal candidate should have experience working in a life science instruments company that develops, supports, or sells software for liquid handling instruments or similar. You must be able to communicate with all areas of our multidisciplinary company, including applications, sales, research and development and manufacturing. You must have an in-depth understanding of the software development life cycle and the expected contributions from product management including use cases, storyboards, user requirements and support documents. You will work closely with the entire product management and marketing team to define the go-to-market strategy, product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. You will also serve as the internal and external expert for your product offerings, working with the sales channel and key customers.
Communicate software requirements for Echo® Liquid Handlers including both instrument workflow and downstream data handling
Document all software requirements to ensure that they are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, verifiable, and that they conform to standards
Assess customer needs, market trends, and major competitors to synthesize product requirements; utilize market/client/industry research and analysis to develop and maintain a long-range product road map
Acting as a key product evangelist and authority for Labcyte software products, including knowledge of current product functionality and new product enhancements
Support internal and customer-facing teams with guidance on market needs, product positioning, and go-to-market plans
Facilitate business process changes as required to improve organizational and product line performance
Proactively monitor trends of cutting-edge software applications/architectures
3-5 years of relevant product management experience
Undergraduate/graduate degree in a scientific discipline, computer science or similar
Goal-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage and develop various products at different life-cycle stages
Experience developing software products for use by scientific researchers is required
Experience driving the development of software from concept to validation is required
Experience with laboratory instrumentation and liquid handling is preferred
Experience managing software products for regulated laboratory environments (GMP/FDA) is preferred
Must work well as a part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills
Good command of the English language
Up to 20% travel required to customer and non-customer sites in North America, Asia and Europe
